Quick tips to be more efficient

Sometimes it’s the little things that really make a difference. One neat timesaving tip for the iPad is not using an apostrophe. You can usually skip using the apostrophe when you type on the iPad’s onscreen keyboard. Good old autocorrect will fill it in for you — right where it needs to be. For those who struggle with knowing when to use apostrophes, this is a bonus!

Wish you could type as little as possible and still get your point across? With your iPad, you don’t even have to finish writing the ending to long words. You can just type the first few letters and tap the predictive typing response on the keyboard to finish the rest of the word for you. Though one could argue that it’s just as easy to type the word as it is to type part of a word and click the predictive response key.

Yet another quick time cutting hack saves you time with your Music app. Instead of having to open the Music app and searching to find a specific artist or song, you can just ask Siri to play whatever you’re looking for.

Scrolling up

You know how it is when you get really deep into a website and have scrolled down a long way and need to go back up to the top? Well, with this short cut, you don’t have to scroll for what seems like forever. If you want to go to the top of the page you are on, you can just tap the top of the screen where the time is displayed. This doesn’t work for every app, but for most apps it can save you some time.

Switch between apps

Are you still opening apps and closing them before switching to another app? Well, you could be doing it a little faster. If you will double click on the Home Button, you will see the most recently used apps open up for you in a delightful carousel. You can finger swipe from left to right and tap on the app to open it up. You can close an app that you used recently from your carousel by swiping up on the app.

You want to make sure to close apps from time to time. This seemingly small action helps keep your iPad running smoothly.

Spotlight search

Apple has really worked on adding the ability to search for all kinds of things using the spotlight search tool. You can search for music, apps, and even movies. If you have a Netflix account, Spotlight search will pull up movies in your Netflix account. You can even pull up specific episodes of a TV show if you happen to know the name of the episode.

Spotlight is great to use to launch apps. Instead of trying to find where an app is located, you can just search for the name of the app, and Spotlight will pull it up for you. To find Spotlight, swipe down on the Home Screen. Swipe from left to right on your first page of icons and you will see Spotlight Search.

The control panel

What are some of the uses of the control panel on your iPad? For one, it can turn off Airplane mode, Bluetooth, Mute, and Do Not Disturb, to start with. And you know how your iPad flips orientation randomly or when you physically turn it from portrait to landscape? Well, you have the power to make a decision to set it to one orientation.

Search a webpage using the address bar

You can use your web browser to search for specific content on a web page. Just type it into the address bar which is at the top of the browser. The search bar will find the content for you. This might come in handy if you were reading a webpage when your iPad’s battery dies. You can find out exactly where you left off if you can remember a few of the last words you read.

I bet you didn’t know your iPad could do all these neat tips. These are just a few useful tips for helping you work (or play) more expeditiously on your iPad. Use these tips and you’ll be well on your way to navigating your iPad like a pro.
