The Latest in the Apple iMac line, the 27-inch iMac models were released late 2014 and included several new features over the previous, now discontinued, models.
The Display
The primary upgrade that the 27-inch iMac brought was the display. The 5K Retina display has a resolution of 5120x2880 and an aspect ratio of 16:9. It was a major improvement over the previous LED and LCD displays. Additionally, Apple have switched from the standard Adobe sRGB colour coverage to the DCI-P3. This adds 20% to the amount of colours you can see over a standard computer monitor.
Hardware
The Processors were upgraded too with the 27-inch model receiving a faster Haswell processor. Its two Thunderbolt ports were updated to Thunderbolt 2 ports offers support for up to two 4,096 x 2,160 external displays, or a single 5,120 x 2,880 dual-cable external display in addition to the iMac's built-in screen. Add to that, 4 USB, an SDXC card slot and an Ethernet cable and you’ve got serious connectivity. Furthermore, the secondary storage was also upgraded to a 1 TB Fusion HDD and the video options were changed over to AMD Radeon R9 M290X to give a much clearer image. This model comes with a 3.2Ghz Intel Core i5 and 8GB of RAM.
